Hot tubs are tubs that can either be large or small in size – depending on one’s preference. Its function is to be filled with water that is heated and is then employed for various purposes: hydrotherapy, relaxation, soaking and massage. In a lot of cases, hot tubs are located outdoors where the beauty of nature can be appreciated and where a soothing ambience can be offered. These are sheltered for one’s protection as well as for the benefit of privacy.
“Spas” and “jacuzzis” are also considered as hot tubs, but they are terms used for tubs that are located inside rather than outside. Also, there are two types: (a) the wooden-staved tubs used for soaking, and; (b) the plastic tubs that come in one-piece or “spas”.
A hot tub is usually warmed electrically or through a heater that utilizes natural gas. Sometimes, heaters using submersible firewood and solar systems providing heat can also be an option. During instances where hot tubs are found in natural hot spring waters, it is advisable to add some cool water to avoid soaking water that is dangerously hot.
One must always remember that water sanitization is always important. Many unwanted organisms tend to linger in wet and warm environments. That is why utilizing hot tub covers could help in keeping the water clean longer. Also, maintaining the water chemistry is a must to prevent damage as well as to preserve the hot tub itself. If you are residing in a cold climate and if you tend to use the tub all year round, make sure you “winterize” it during off seasons.
